HGD Crossroads Week 8 Action Plan

Welcome back, Goal Investigator, to the Week 8 Action Plan. This week, you will look at when motivation isn’t enough to keep you going and when it’s better to form habits. Keep working on your happiness list. Continue your weekly tracking.

    When motivation isn’t enough

If you are like me, you are very excited and motivated when you first start a goal or project. But what happens when your motivation wanes? Do you struggle through, or do you move on to the next goal or project because you have lost interest in the current one? It would be better to build habits around your Crossroads Journey than to rely solely on motivation.

Some things to think about when setting up habits around your Crossroads Journey:

    • Do you have dedicated time each week, each day, each month to work on your current goal?
    • Do you have about five hours each week dedicated to your goals?
    • Or how much time each week do you want dedicated to taking action on your goal or project?
    • What habits can you form to achieve what you have set out to achieve?
    • Have you added this time and habit to your diary or planner so it can be tracked?
    • It may help if you set a time each day or, at the very least, each week marked specifically for your goal.
    • Is there a repetitive activity? If so, have you scheduled it into your planner or diary?
    • What else can you do to form habits?

    Happiness list

As you will know by now, if you have been following along with each week’s action plan, that happiness list is a list of activities that make you happy. You do at least one happiness activity daily. But also as a reward for achieving something from your Crossroads Journey. And also when you are struggling because it is an off day or you have done one of the roadblock and sabotage activities.

If you have been following along since week one, then you will have a good selection of activities to do that make you happy. Is there anything else you would like to add to the list? What has been your favourite activity to do?

One thing I have been doing that makes me happy is focusing on my self-care. I used to be a nail picker, and years before that I was a nail biter. I am coming up to about week 8 of growing my natural nails. I am surprised that they are stronger than they used to be. I have also been applying body lotion each night before I get into my pyjamas.

I have also purchased an empty makeup palette off Amazon, and I have added the makeup that I made: mineral foundation; it was loose, but I pressed it into one of the empty pans. I have also added two of the three lipsticks I made. And I have made a list of the makeup that I want to make next. I have also priced how much it will cost to buy the ingredients, but I will have to get the ingredients I don’t have a little at a time. The first project I want to do next is make myself a mascara, as I am fully out. For now, my goal is to create all the products for this makeup pallet… but I am thinking of getting a couple more pallets so that I can have a pallet for different occasions. In the meantime, I can use the commercial products that I still have.

    15 pan makeup pallet:

    1. Pressed mineral foundation (already have)
    2. Blusher (using a commercial product that I already have until I can get more ingredients)
    3. Highlighter (using commercial product that I already have until I can get more ingredients)
    4. Bronzer (using commercial product that I already have until I can get more ingredients)
    5. Mascara (I am completely out, so this will be my next project)
    6. Concealer (using commercial product that I already have until I can get more ingredients)
    7. Lipstick (already have) – pale purple lavender/violet ish
    8. Lipstick (already have) – red brown
    9. Lipstick (using commercial product that I already have until I can get more ingredients) – pink
    10. Eyeshadow (using commercial product that I already have until I can get more ingredients)
    11. Eyeshadow (using commercial product that I already have until I can get more ingredients)
    12. Eyeshadow (using commercial product that I already have until I can get more ingredients)
    13. Eyeshadow (using commercial product that I already have until I can get more ingredients)
    14. Eyeshadow (using commercial product that I already have until I can get more ingredients)
    15. Eyeshadow (using commercial product that I already have until I can get more ingredients)

    Makeup Ingredients I already have:

    • Sericite mica
    • Zinc oxide
    • Boron nitride

  • My Spring 2026 Capsule Wardrobe

    My Spring 2026 Capsule Wardrobe

In Week 10 Action Plan I briefly talk about Project 333, in this post I will go into depth about my plans for my capsule wardrobe, and I will do a follow up post when I change over my capsule. Project 333 is 33 clothing and accessory items for three months. Here in New Zealand we are transitioning into spring, so layers will be important this change over.

    Project 333 Rules

THe full rules are over at Minimalist Fashion Challenge Project 333 Refresher +Q&A https://bemorewithless.com/therules/ Or Coutney Carvers book Project 333 (https://amzn.to/3SJ8m3v affiliate link).

    • Change over every 3 months. Here in New Zealand: Spring starts 1 September, Summer starts 1 December, Autumn, 1 March, and Winter 1 June. But when you start its not rigidly timebound.
    • You have 33 items that include clothing, accessories, jewellery, outerwear, and shoes.
    • Items not included: wedding rings, other sentimental, jewellery that you never take off, underwear, sleepwear, in-home lounge wear, workout clothing (as long as you don’t wear them everyday, otherwise they are counted towards the 33 items).
    • What to do: choose 33 items and box up the rest to store until you change over.
    • This is not a project about suffering. If something breaks or gets holes in or just doesn’t work, replace it
    • Create a wardrobe that you can live, work, and play in.

  • HGD Crossroads Week 7 Action Plan

HGD Crossroads Week 7 Action Plan

Hey Goal Investigator. Welcome back with the Week 7 Action Plan. This week, with your action plan, you will continue to take action on your goals – one action step at a time. You will also look at your vision board. Continue to work with your happiness list, and keep up your weekly tracking.

    • Your vision board
    • Your Happiness List
    • Weekly Tracking

    Your vision board

Back when I first learnt about vision boards, you got a blank piece of paper, and you cut out pictures of what you wanted in your life. Now that technology has advanced, there are so many more options.

    • Paper collage
    • Photo folder on your phone and computer, and watch your vision board as a slide show as you play a motivating song.
    • Pintrest
    • Other memo apps and software

Use as many as you like, just gather images and words and graphics of what you want in your life and visualise them daily. I personally use a folder on my phone and watch them on a slide show.

    Your happiness list

As you will know by now if you have been following along with the weekly Action Plans from week 1. Your happiness list is items that you like to do that make you happy. These can be personal care such as getting a facial or giving yourself one, doing your nails, applying a divine body lotion to your skin with your nighttime routine, Activities that make you happy such as going for a dog walk on the beach or with your partner, working on your car, building something. Crafts such as embroidery, decorating cakes, making jewellery, crocheting or knitting. Do at least one thing from your happiness list daily, as a reward for completing an action step from your goal, as a pick-me-up when you are feeling sad or stressed, or you have done one of the activities from the roadblocks or sabotages exercises.

For my personal care this week, I bought myself a body lotion, and it smells divine, and it makes my skin feel silky soft. Next week I will be getting myself a mascara – I am torn whether to buy the ingredients to make myself one or to just buy one.

    Weekly tracking

Continue your weekly tracking; this is where you record the action you have taken this week, what you have accomplished and how you rewarded yourself.

    Weekly Tracking

    • Focus of the week
    • Top 3 Tasks of the Week
    • Resources required
    • Accomplishments of the week
    • Weekly Tasks/habits
    • Weekly Notes
    • Top 3 Action Steps for next week

This concludes this week’s action plan. If you haven’t already created a vision board, continue to do things that make you happy and track your actions. If you want help with your goal investigation, you can purchase our WhatsApp Goal Investigation support, where you can share multimedia texts with your Goal Detective. You can ask questions about something you are stuck on with your goal investigation. If you need weekly support and accountability with your goals, or anything else goal-related. The minutes are counted with your Goal Detective’s time, not your time sending the message. The good thing about the WhatsApp Goal Investigation Support is that it is a tool you can use on the go, and you don’t have to book in time to work with your Goal Detective.

  • HGD Crossroads Week 6 Action Plan

HGD Crossroads Week 6 Action Plan

Welcome back, Goal Investigator. How has your week been? This week, check in with how your goals are going, highlight what actions you still need to take and how you are doing emotionally. A few weeks ago in week 3, you looked at your roadblocks and sabotages; how have you been going with your triggers?

Check in with your goals and emotions

You would have been doing your weekly tracking; this is separate from that. This is more an informal check-in with your goals and yourself. As this will be your sixth week of taking action on your goals and your self-development, you may have had other roadblocks and sabotages raise their ugly heads. Be kind to yourself. Use one of the Roadblocks and Sabotages exercises from week 3 and then do something from your Happiness List.

In your journal that you have been using for your HGD Crossroads work:

    • For your short-term goal, what action steps have you got outstanding?
    • If you have completed the short-term goal that you set in Week 1, have you set a new goal?
    • What negative thoughts have popped up recently?
    • How have you been working through those negative thoughts?
    • Has anything else triggered you?
    • How are you feeling about your Crossroads Journey?
    • Are you happy with the progress you have been making? Why?
    • Is there anything else you would like to record about your Crossroads Journey?

    Your happiness list

You will be very familiar with your happiness list by now. Have you been adding to it? Have you been doing something from your happiness list daily? How about when you accomplish something from your Crossroads Journey?

In case you are new to the happiness list, this is a list of all the things you like to do that make you happy. Each day, do something from your happiness list, as well as after you have achieved an action step from your Crossroads Journey. Another time to use your happiness list is if you need an emotional boost.

Last week I mentioned that I had ordered an empty makeup palette; I have since received it. I have also transferred the loose mineral foundation that I made, and pressed it into one of the empty pans. I have also transferred two of the three lipsticks I have made. I would have transferred all three, but I can’t find where I have put the third lipstick, as it was not where I thought I had put it. I now have to create a list of the other makeup products that I need, including mascara, as I have run out this week. Oh, I am on day two of wearing makeup daily. Let’s keep doing things that make us happy.

    Weekly Tracking

By now, the weekly tracking is starting to feel naturally part of your weekly routine. Keep going with your action steps, one at a time, record what you have been doing, and keep tracking your actions.

    Weekly tracking:

    • Focus of the week
    • Top 3 Tasks of the Week
    • Resources required
    • Accomplishments of the week
    • Weekly Tasks/habits
    • Weekly Notes
    • Top 3 Action Steps for next week

This concludes the week 6 action plan. If you need extra support throughout the week, you can purchase the trial WhatsApp Goal Investigation Support, where you can get 15 minutes to share multimedia and text messages about your Crossroads Journey with your Goal Detective. You can ask questions, brainstorm ideas, and get another pair of eyes on your Goal Investigation. The beautiful thing about the WhatsApp Goal Investigation Support is that you don’t have to book in a time with your Goal Detective, and you can use this service on the go. The minutes are counted by the Goal Detective’s time, not the entire conversation between both parties.

  • HGD Crossroads Week 5 Action Plan

HGD Crossroads Week 5 Action Plan

Welcome to week 5 Goal Investigator. This week you are going to review the previous month and set the plan for this month, review your happiness list and continue your weekly tracking. If this is your first week coming across the Weekly Plans head on over to week 1. You can start the weekly plans anytime of the year.

    • Review your month
    • Monthly Plan
    • Your Happiness List
    • Weekly Tracking

    Review your month

At the end of each month, it is a good idea to review the month that has been; this makes it easier to set the plan for the coming month. Also it lets you reflect on what you achieved and the direction you are taking. You will find this monthly review easier if you have been doing your weekly tracking.

    • What was the focus for the month?
    • What action steps were you meant to take?
    • What action steps did you actually take?
    • What action steps did you do instead of something from your list?
    • What action steps did you not take? Why?
    • What worked this month?
    • What did not work this month?
    • What will you do differently next month?
    • What will you not do again?
    • Is there anything else you need to note about this month?

    The plan for next month

Now that you have reviewed last month, it is time to plan for the coming month. This way you will know what needs to be achieved and the actions you need to take.

    • What is the focus for this month?
    • What goals and projects do you have active?
    • What goals and projects do you want to start this month?
    • What are your top 3 action steps
    • For your current and new goals and projects what action steps do you need to achieve this month?
    • Describe what it would look like by the end of the month to have had a successful month?

    Your happiness list

By now you will be familiar with your happiness list. Have you been doing something from your happiness list daily? What about when you achieve action steps from your goals? Is there anything else that you want to add to your happiness list?

This week I got home from a 10-day trip to Wellington; this was a good, refreshing break. I have also refocused on my self-care, cleansing and exfoliating my face regularly, and applying a moisturiser daily. Also, I have been focusing on breaking the habit of picking my nails and have bought myself a nail varnish. I am on week 4, and already most of my nails have reached a tidy short length.

Something I want to add to my daily happiness list is to do my makeup daily. To enhance the probability of me following through with this I have just ordered an empty makeup palette so that I can have my main products easily accessible. And I can use the book “Make It Up” by Marie Rayma to make more of my products. I already have lipstick and mineral foundation; next I would like to make eyeshadow in 3 to 4 shades and blusher, highlighter and bronzer. This may sound like a goal, but it makes me happy so I am adding it to my happiness list.

    Weekly Tracking

Now that you have completed a month of weekly tracking and the monthly review, you will see how helpful this process is. Let’s keep up the good work.

    • Focus of the week
    • Top 3 Tasks of the Week
    • Resources required
    • Accomplishments of the week
    • Weekly Tasks/habits
    • Weekly Notes
    • Top 3 Action Steps for next week

Now that you have the monthly and weekly plan, go and take your first action step for the week. If you want a 1:1 accountability, try WhatsApp Support for $30. You can send multimedia messages and text, this trial option will give you 15 minutes to chat with a Goal Detective. WhatsApp Goal Investigation Support is great for you if you need accountability during the week, have questions about your goal investigation, or prefer on-the-go support rather than a dedicated Video or In-Person Goal Investigation Session.

  • HGD Crossroads Week 4 Action Plan

HGD Crossroads Week 4 Action Plan

Welcome back, Goal Investigator. Thank you for coming back. This week you will review your Crossroads Journey to see where you are and what you have achieved so far. You will envision what your life will look like in six years. You will also look at what you want to achieve in the next twelve months, then break it down into what you want to achieve in the next 3 months and break that down further into what you want to achieve in the coming month.

This week the action plan covers:

    • Review your Crossroads Journey
    • Idea Playground 6 Year Time – Envisioning your future
    • The Quarterly Plan
    • The Monthly Plan
    • Your Next 3 Action Steps
    • Your Happiness List
    • Weekly Tracking

    Review your Crossroads Journey

It is a good idea to review your Crossroads Journey frequently and keep following the Weekly Action Plans; you will be guided on when you next need to review your Crossroads Journey. You will need your weekly tracking and the document where you keep your Crossroads goal notes.

    • What have you been focusing on?
    • What action steps have you set yourself over the last 3 weeks?
    • What actions have you taken so far?
    • What actions did you take instead?
    • What action did you not take?
    • What have you got outstanding?
    • How did you celebrate your achievements?
    • What will you be focusing on next?

    Your happiness list

Keep adding to your happiness list and keep doing activities that make you happy daily. Also, as you achieve milestones on your journey, do something from your happiness list. Have a variety of activities on your list, with different costs so that there is always something you can do that makes you happy. Or even when you want a break from taking action on your goals. Just keep a balance between doing what you need to do to achieve your goals and what you want to do to make you happy.

    Envisioning your future

Use an Idea Playground mind map and free writing exercise to envision what you want your life to look like in six years. As you envision what your future looks like, think about your holistic life. Your holistic life encompasses your financial, relationships, and wellbeing life areas. Think about:

    • Everything you want in your holistic life.
    • What does your financial life look like?
    • Who is in your life? Who is your partner?
    • What is your relationship like?
    • Where do you live?
    • What does your house look like?

    The next twelve months

Now that you know what you want your life to look like in six years, what do you want to achieve in the next twelve months? You can break it down into quarters or use an Idea Playground. As you do this exercise you may need to review what you want to achieve in six years, and work out what you need to achieve in the next twelve months to start making what you envisioned real.

    The quarterly plan

It is time to start getting the details fleshed out. You will now plan what you want to achieve in the next three months. As part of your quarterly plan, you will also plan what you need to achieve in the next month.

    • What is the focus for this quarter?
    • What does success look like for you this quarter?
    • What are your top 3 action steps?
    • What do you want to focus on in months 1, 2, and 3?

    The monthly plan

In this exercise, you will expand your focus from the quarterly plan and flesh it out into an actionable monthly plan.

    • What other action steps do you need to achieve and when do you need to complete them?
    • What is the focus of the next month?
    • What does success look like for you this month?
    • What resources do you need this month?
    • What action steps do you need to take this month, and when do you need to take them by?
    • Out of these action steps, what are your top three action steps?

    The weekly plan

Last week you were introduced to the weekly plan; you will continue to use the format to create your weekly plans.

    • What is the focus for the week?
    • What are your top 3 action steps?
    • What other action steps do you need to take?
    • What resources do you need for your action steps?
    • What appointments do you have this week?

    Weekly Tracking

Continuing your weekly tracking will make it easier for you when you do your monthly and quarterly reviews as well as to keep you accountable for your actions. Also, it will help you on the days when you are feeling overwhelmed to see how far you have come.

    • Focus of the week
    • Top 3 Tasks of the Week
    • Resources required
    • Accomplishments of the week
    • Weekly Tasks/habits
    • Weekly Notes
    • Top 3 Action Steps for next week

Now that you have reviewed your journey so far, updated your happiness, envisioned your future and worked out what you want to achieve this week, go and start taking action. If you need help, you can book in for a 1:1 video Goal Investigation Session or purchase WhatsApp Goal Investigation Support.

  • HGD Crossroads Week 3 Action Plan

HGD Crossroads Week 3 Action Plan

Welcome back, Goal Investigator. This week we are looking at your roadblocks and sabotages. As you go through this week’s Action Plan, be kind to yourself, and have your happiness list handy. Identifying your roadblocks and sabotages is important to help you work through them and find solutions and other ways of thinking.

    This week’s plan will cover:

    • Idea Playground – Roadblocks and Sabotages
    • Deeper Investigation into your roadblocks and sabotages
    • Your next 3 Action Steps
    • Your Happiness List
    • Weekly Tracking

    Idea Playground: Sabotages and Roadblocks

In your journal or HGD Crossroads Module 3: Roadblocks Action Guide, use an Idea Playground exercise to investigate your roadblocks and sabotages. Use a mind map first to gather your thoughts and start the investigation into what is holding you back, creating a roadblock on your path, and sabotages that keep cropping up in your life. Then follow this with a free writing exercise to continue to dump your thoughts.

    Your Happiness List

Last week you created your happiness list, and you would have started to frequently do an activity that makes you happy. While you work through your sabotages and roadblocks this week, use the happiness list when you need a break working through your sabotages and roadblocks.

Deeper Investigation into your roadblocks and sabotages

In this exercise, we will take the work that you have done in the Idea Playground and expand on it. Examine each sabotage or roadblock and follow the steps for this investigation.

    • What was the activating event or trigger?
    • What are your thoughts and beliefs about the activating event?
    • What are the consequences of the activating event and your thoughts and beliefs?
    • What evidence is there to support and show doubt about your beliefs around the activating event?
    • What alternative possibilities are there and what evidence is there to suggest it might be true?
    • Is your belief balanced, extreme, or inflexible?
    • Is my belief helpful or problematic?
    • If your belief is true, how much does it matter?
    • What can you do to evaluate if your belief is true?
    • If your belief is true, what is the most constructive way you can respond to it?
    • How can you change the thought so that it is not so extreme or inflexible?

    Your weekly plan

To set your week up for success, plan what you want to achieve. This will also help with the weekly tracking as you can compare what you set and what you actually completed.

    • What is the focus for the week?
    • What are your top 3 action steps?
    • What other action steps do you need to take?
    • What resources do you need for your action steps?
    • What appointments do you have this week?

    Weekly Tracking

Continue to track your progress as you have been for the last two weeks. This will help you to see your progress as you go, plus to see if you start to wonder if you are making any progress.

    • Focus of the week
    • Top 3 Tasks of the Week
    • Resources required
    • Accomplishments of the week
    • Weekly Tasks/habits
    • Weekly Notes

HGD Crossroads Week 2 Action Plan

Hey Goal Investigator, welcome to week 2. This week you will evaluate your crossroads paths, create your happiness list, set your next three action steps, and track your weekly activity. Last week you did your life assessment, and that gave you a picture of where you are starting from on your crossroads journey. You also set a short-term goal and you would have started to take action.

Idea Playground – Evaluate your Crossroads Paths

In your journal or Crossroads Quarterly Planner, use an Idea Playground mind map and free writing to gather all of your thoughts and feelings and ideas about the crossroads that you are deliberating.

    Think about:

    • What are your different crossroads paths?
    • What are the advantages of the different paths you are considering?
    • What are the disadvantages of the different paths?
    • What actions do you need to take for each path?
    • Why do you want to consider exploring this path further?
    • Which path do you want to explore first?
    • Give your chosen path a timeframe to trial.

    Your Happiness List

As we get busy with life, we often neglect the things that make us happy. This exercise is designed so that you have a quick reference list of things that you enjoy doing. In your diary or journal, create a list of things and activities that make you happy when you do them.

Items on your happiness list could be things like: self-care – giving yourself a facial, getting your nails, giving yourself a mani/pedi, reading a book, watching a show or movie, going for a walk in nature, hugging your pet, working on your car, building something, painting something…

When you tick off an activity from your crossroads journey, choose an item from your happiness list. And at least once a week, do an activity from your list to bring happiness into your life.

Top 3 Action Steps for the week

If you only get 3 things done, what are the top 3 action steps you need to do this week? Make sure you add these action steps to your diary. Also make sure you add a deadline for when the tasks need to be done by.

Part of achieving success with your goals is tracking your progress. If you also need accountability, join us over at HGD Crossroads Module 1: Basics, which is the free module. HGD Crossroads Week 1 Action Plan

Hey Goal Investigator, welcome to week 1 of HGD Crossroads. These weekly action plans are intended to help you on your crossroads journey by giving you guidance on navigating your path. This week’s Action Plan is intended to help you take the first steps on your journey:

    • Life Assessment & Reflection
    • Short-term Goal Idea Playground
    • Short-term Goal Roadmap
    • Top 3 Action Steps for the Short-Term Goal (Task Tracker)
    • Start Taking Action
    • Weekly Tracking

    Life Assessment and Reflection

Before you can start taking action steps on your Crossroads journey, you need to know where you are starting from. This will give you a clear idea of what your life looks like right now. It will also help you to identify areas of your life that need focusing on.

In your journal or HGD Crossroads Quarterly Planner, reflect on what your Financial, Relationship, and Wellbeing life areas look like. How important is each life area to you? How satisfied are you with each life area? What area needs your focus right now?

    The 3 life areas:

    1. Financial: How do you make your money? What do you do with your money?
    2. Relationships: All of the relationships in your life: family, partner, workmates, any other relationships.
    3. Wellbeing: your living conditions, what you do in your free time, health, exercise/fitness, living conditions, how relaxed you feel, how in control you are of your life.

    Short-term goal Idea Playground

This is a brainstorming exercise to help you get all of your thoughts out of your brain and onto paper (or a document that you use for your journal). Use a mind map or free writing. Get as many details dumped out of your brain; this will help you when you plan your first short-term goal roadmap. Free writing is where you write out all of your thoughts in journal writing format.

    Short-term goal roadmap

This is the plan for your short-term goal. Having done your Idea Playground, you will have a clear idea of what your goal is. Having a written plan of your goal will help you to achieve it because you have all the details of what you have to take action on.

    • Title: What is the goal you are taking action on?
    • Description: What exactly are you trying to achieve? Describe it with as much detail as you can.
    • Deadline: When do you want to achieve your goal?
    • Resources needed: What tools/resources/people/equipment/other do you need to achieve this goal?
    • What resources do you already have for this goal?
    • Record your accomplishments and celebrate your wins.
    • Track your Action Steps: List all of the action steps that you can think of that are required for this goal. What do you need to do for each action step? When do you have to complete the action step?
    • First 3 Action Steps: What are the first 3 action steps you need to complete first?

    Start taking action

Now that you know what your first 3 action steps are, it is time to start taking action. If you are feeling overwhelmed by the action step, can you break the action step down into smaller tasks?

    Weekly Tracking

An important step in your Crossroads Journey is that you track your progress. You can use your journal or The Quarterly Planner.
